We’re Anne and Albert, and for as long as we can remember, art has been part of who we are.
Anne’s earliest memories are of shaping little clay pots from mud, while Albert was sketching, tinkering, and reimagining objects into something new. Over the years, that love of making has taken many forms: tiling and woodworking in our home, restoring antiques, treasure hunting at flea markets, and raising two children surrounded by music, art, and community.
When our children grew up and began their own journeys, we returned to ours. Anne found her way back to clay through classes at Railyard Arts Studio, guided by her mother, artist Mireille Duchesne. Pottery quickly became her deepest passion—hands in the earth, shaping, centering, and experimenting with glaze and fire.
Albert explored new paths in steampunk, blending odd gears, pipes, and found objects into imaginative pieces. He also began crafting jewelry, working with wood, leather, and stone. Together, we continued woodworking, where every cut, curve, and grain revealed something new.
Today, Alania Crafts is the home for all of this. Pottery, steampunk, jewelry, and woodworking each carry our shared imprint, reflecting the collaboration that has shaped our life for decades. We create not just to make things, but to stay connected—to material, to story, and to each other.
